Policies

For new appointments:

On the 1st of every month, I open my books for flash and get what-you-get tattoos for the following month (so for example, on April 1st I start scheduling for May appointments). Those books stay open until that month is filled, and you can check my Booking Page or Instagram bio to see if I am currently scheduling or not.

For custom tattoos, I open my books every two months and schedule them for the following two months. Because of high demand, I am limiting my customs to large scale projects that fall within my preferred style and subject matter. My customs books will reopen October 1st.

When we are ready to get you scheduled, I require a non-refundable deposit to reserve your appointment.  That money goes toward the final cost of your tattoo once it is complete. If you’re getting a custom tattoo, I also require an additional drawing fee to cover the time I spend making your design. My drawing fees are sliding scale depending on the complexity of the design and typically range from $50-200.

For custom tattoos, I typically send a rough sketch at least one week before your appointment for you to approve or request any minor changes. I ask that you check your email periodically in the weeks leading up to your appointment so you don’t miss it if I reach out with questions. If you request major changes to the design after I’ve drawn it, an additional drawing fee may be required, so please be as descriptive as possible when expressing what you want at the beginning of our correspondence.

For existing appointments:

I totally understand that in life, things come up. If you have to reschedule for any reason, I ask that you please reach out to me as soon as possible so I can try to fill your spot. If you give less than 48 hours notice, your deposit may be forfeited and you will need to send another one in order to be rebooked. Postponing more than twice may result in you not being rebooked again.

If you are going to be more than 5 minutes late, please call the shop or email me so I know you’re on your way. If you are more than 15 minutes late, your deposit may be forfeit even if we go forward with the appointment. If you are more than 25 minutes late or don’t show up at all, your deposit is forfeited and the appointment is considered a no-show.

Masks are no long required at our shop but they are still encouraged. We also have masks available at the shop for those who would like one but didn’t bring their own, just ask!

FAQs

  • All flash designs on my website are repeatable so you don’t have to worry about someone else “claiming” a design you want. I may retire and bring back different designs at my discretion.

  • I am appointment-only at this time so you need to reach out first in order to get scheduled for a tattoo. If you want to get in with me on short notice, I recommend following me on Instagram and keeping an eye on my Instagram stories. That is where I announce whenever I have a cancellation or short-notice spot available.

  • In Oregon, it is illegal to tattoo anyone under 18 regardless of parental consent, so you will have to wait until you are no longer a minor. If you want to get tattooed on or shortly after your 18th birthday, you can reach out beforehand to talk about scheduling it.

  • I do not typically do face-to-face consultations for custom tattoos. In general I’ve had no trouble discussing and planning a tattoo design with a client through email, and having all the information compiled in one place also helps me stay organized. If we are still having issues with communication, I can organize a call over Zoom for us to discuss the project, but this is rarely necessary.

  • Yes! I always let me client see the design beforehand. Typically I will send a rough sketch 5-14 days before our session for them to approve or request any changes. Then I'll make a more finalized drawing and send it within a few days before the appointment.

  • There are a lot of things I would love to tattoo and just don’t get asked for them often enough! I really want to do more large-scale projects, like half sleeves and larger. I love doing lady-faces surrounded by adornments or plants. I love doing pet portraits. I enjoy pop culture references. I like to render vintage illustrations or motifs, especially botanical illustrations or human figures. If any of those is up your alley, I would love to talk!

  • It completely depends on the piece. Because the amount of additional planning and more limited options, I do them on a case-by-case basis so the best thing you can do is email me some photos of the piece you’re wanting changed.

  • I will not tattoo any hate speech or symbols of hate, including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc.

I do not tattoo genitals. I tattoo hands and faces on a case-by-case basis, but typically not on people who are young or have very few tattoos.

I do not tattoo other artist’s work unless I have express consent from that artist, or it is part of the public domain. If you have reference images of other art/tattoos, I’m happy to use it as inspiration and make you a custom piece based on that design.

  • I have some experience working with darker skin and have researched the subject and can make recommendations about what I think will work best on your skin. I also offer free color tests which involve tattooing several small swatches of different inks on the client to see how those colors heal if that will be helpful. I am always willing to work with clients of all skin tones to ensure they feel confident going into their appointment and will come out of it with a tattoo they love.

  • Yes, I am happy to provide an estimate, as long as I know the following information: what you want tattooed, how big, where on your body, and if you want gray shading or color. I can give a fairly accurate estimate based on that information, but please know it’s only an estimate, not a price quote, so I recommend padding your budget just in case.

  • In order to properly and safely heal your tattoo, you must avoid certain activities for two weeks following the appointment. Being in direct sunlight, swimming/soaking, and any physical or dirty activity where you cannot wash yourself immediately after (such as camping/backpacking) are all things that can cause a tattoo to heal badly, lose ink, or become infected. If you have any trips or activities planned that may put your healing process at risk, I recommend planning your tattoo appointment for after that event.

  • You will need to bring a valid, government-issued ID. Please put on a protective face mask when you arrive. I take cash only on the day of the appointment so please make sure to make an ATM stop beforehand. Our building has water fountains but you’re encouraged to bring your own water and snacks, especially for longer appointments. You are also welcome to bring a book or headphones, and anything else that will bring you comfort.

  • I accept deposits via Venmo and Paypal, and I take cash only on the day of the appointment. Please be sure to make a stop at an ATM before your session, and I can point you in the direction of the nearest ATM to the shop if you need.

  • All the artists at La Petite are vaccinated and boosted. We are no longer requiring clients and guests wear a mask at all times inside the studio, but it is still encouraged and we offer free masks to those who would like one. In the week before your appointment, if you show any symptoms or are exposed to COVID or other illnesses, please contact me as soon as possible and we can reschedule you. Tattooers do not receive paid sick leave so I take my health seriously, and it is also not advised to get tattooed when your body is not 100% healthy.

  • If you are going to be more than 5 minutes late, please email me or call the shop right away to let me know that you are on your way.

If you are more than 15 minutes late, we can continue with the appointment but your deposit may be forfeit as a late fee.

If you are more than 25 minutes late, that is considered a no-show and you forfeit both your deposit and your appointment reservation. No-showing without contacting me will results in you not being rebooked for a future appointment.

  • Please contact me right away. We can always postpone and I’m happy to reschedule clients with enough notice, but please know your deposit may be withheld if it’s within too short of notice, so reach out as soon as possible. However, if you make and postpone more than two appointments, I may choose not to rebook you after that point.

  • Yes, you can! We allow one guest per client, and they must be over 18 years of age and follow the same COVID guidelines as everyone else who enters the space. Please note, our studio is small and your guest may have to stay in our waiting room if the tattoo space is overly crowded on the day of your appointment.

  • Yes! Tattoos can sometimes lose ink during the healing process, especially pieces with a lot of black-fill or full color, so I am happy to provide a free touchup within one year of your appointment as long as all after-care instructions were followed correctly. If a touch-up is needed due to client-caused issues, I will happily touch it up for a small fee. Please note that free touch-ups do not apply to certain high-traffic placements, such as hands, fingers and feet.

  • Yes, all my inks are vegan. I also use biodegradable products as much as possible to lower my environmental impact.

  • La Petite is currently located on the second floor of a 1950s building in SE Portland, which was unfortunately never outfitted with an elevator. To get to our studio you need to climb one flight of stairs. Please let me know if this will be an issue for you and I will see what I can do to accommodate you.
